Windstar - Star Pride - Engine Room Spaces Flood

Windstar - Star Pride - Engine Room Spaces Flood

Whilst at sea and navigating shallow waters, the cruise ship sailed over a shallow reef. This grounding caused a breach in the ships hull and consequently two of the engine room spaces - The Purifier Room and A/C Compressor Rooms were almost totally submerged.

The damage from the sea water required that all the cabling and control equipment affected by the salt water had to be removed and replaced.
This repair consisted of approx 20km of various types of cable, 77 in number control panels for numerous on board systems, tank gauges, sensors and numerous other items of equipment which had to be replaced.

RGB won this order and have now completed the repairs to the total satisfaction of the owners. The ship has now departed the shipyard and is en-route back to European waters and back in service. Our company supplied a team of up to 20 engineers, 3 supervisor/commissioning engineers and two office based project engineers to ensure this repair was executed on time and within budget.

This repair was carried out at the Grand Bahama Shipyard, which made it a suitable location for RGB as the company has a designated area inside the shipyard with a comprehensive stock of electrical cable and equipment on hand for this type of work.
